Does Focus on Energy recognize ETA Alternative Energy Technology certification, or just NABCEP?

Focus is interested in core competencies based on a documented task analysis and testing.

Individual certificates, degrees, and other documentation of training, education and relevant experience are always good to have in the workplace as they demonstrate specific competencies of an individual. Focus on Energy currently requires a certain level training and demonstrated experience to participate in some specific areas, such as renewable energy site assessments, solar electric installations and solar thermal installations. Similar requirements are also in place for an installer to be listed on the full-service wind installer list. You can find all of the installer requirements and the current qualifying training courses and site assessor certification information on our Web site.

Focus is interested in working with individuals and organizations that satisfy core competencies based on a documented task analysis and testing. Currently Focus relies upon the task analysis set forth by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners, or NABCEP, as the premiere national certification program of quality and integrity for installation professionals in the field of renewable energy. That said, an individual does not need to become NABCEP certified in order to meet the Focus installer requirements. A new installer simply needs to complete training that satisfies the full task analysis in order to send their first installation project in for pre-approval. In order to recognize the ETA Certification, Focus needs to review the training curriculum and test standards associated with this credential.
