I can’t afford to make my home more energy efficient. Are there any assistance programs to help me?
There are several assistance programs which may help you.
Several programs exist to help income-eligible Wisconsin residents reduce home heating bills and conserve energy. You must be income-eligible for these programs in order to participate. Please consult each program's eligibility requirements to determine if you are eligible for the services offered.
Targeted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®
Focus on Energy offers this program to assist qualifying income-eligible Wisconsin residents in making energy efficiency improvements to their homes. Targeted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR provides a free home evaluation in which a program consultant will review the entire home to see how it is using energy. The evaluation will also include a safety test to ensure that combustion appliances, like a furnace and hot water heater, are functioning properly and are not leaking carbon monoxide into your home. Depending upon the results of the evaluation you might receive, at minimal costs, the following services for your home: air sealing, insulation, heating and cooling updates and ENERGY STAR qualified appliances.
Weatherization Program
The Weatherization program is sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Administration. This program offers assistance in preparing your home for the Wisconsin climate by increasing insulation levels and appliance efficiency. You can learn more about the Weatherization program by visiting the Home Energy Plus Web site or calling 866.432.8947.
Energy Assistance Program
The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) is sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Administration. WHEAP offers heating and electric bill payment assistance along with some crisis services to qualified households. You can learn more about this program by visiting the Home Energy Plus Web site or calling 866.432.8947.
