I would like to install solar and/or wind power, preferably both. How big do I need to go? How much will it cost after all the grants and rebates etc...? Is there anything better? I live on a hill with open land around, one house on the north side of our property. Our lot is 2 acres but narrow so tall poles may not be allowed for wind power. How long does the equipment last? Can I start small and add on later?

Check out the Focus Wind Full Service Installer List.

Check out the Focus Full Service Installer Lists. Focus on Energy maintains lists of renewable energy Full Service Installers in Wisconsin. A Full Service Installer works with a customer to design, sell, install and maintain (service and/or repair) renewable energy equipment and has met experience and/or training requirements. You can use these lists to find qualified wind and solar installers near you and contact them for bids.

However, to receive Focus co-funding for a wind electric system, you must first have a site assessment completed (a site assessment is required for solar installations but not required). As part of the site assessment process, you will receive site specific information about your energy needs, wind and/or solar resource, system size and siting recommendations and an estimate of installed cost as well as an overview of available incentives. This is a great way to get your questions answered! Learn more about the site assessment process and costs.

Depending on the renewable energy equipment installed, it may be possible to add on to your system over time; this is a good topic to discuss with your Certified Site Assessor or Full Service Installer. Focus on Energy requires a two-year installation warranty and one-year equipment warranty for systems we co-fund, however many wind turbines come with 5-year warranties and solar electric panels with 25-year warranties, but with an expected life twice that long.
