What is an energy evaluation?
It's like a check up for your home.
A Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® evaluation is like a check up for your home. It provides an assessment of the energy efficiency of your home through a series of diagnostic tests. During this evaluation, a consultant partnering with the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program will inspect all of the systems in your home which include your levels of insulation, heating and cooling systems, lighting, ventilation and appliance and will identify causes and solutions of inefficiencies and safety issues. Some potential problems that may be found include air leaks, moisture issues (window condensation), inadequate insulation etc. The consultant will then provide you with a written report outlining his/her findings and recommended solutions. Once the work is completed, the consultant will return for a post-performance evaluation to ensure that improvements were done right and are effective. Consider it an unbiased second opinion of the work done by your contractor.
